Radiation Threat Detector |
RTD-A01 The RTD is a gamma ray device that is modular, scalable, and customizable. It can be integrated into a large number of different instruments for homeland security, medical imaging, and astrophysics. The team of engineers and scientists at Aguila will work with you in the customization of the RTD to optimally fit the needs of your application.
The RTD is a novel detector that has excellent sensitivity to gamma rays, and will allow the deployment of rugged, sensitive radiation detectors to enhance our defense against nuclear threats. The RTD employs pixel array CZT detectors, new multichannel detector readout ASICS, directionally sensitive elements, state of the art high density packaging and novel software and firmware to obtain a unique radiological signature. The RTD addresses the potential smuggling of nuclear materials into and within the United States, as well as overseas. A network of interconnected RTDs allows for surveillance of large areas and localization of threats through triangulation of multiple device responses. Some of the many features of the RTD include: Location and spectral differentiation of weak and localized gamma radiation sources with minimal ambiguity against a background comprising a collection of strong sources of different energies Spatial localization of sources in the energy range 20 to 3,000 keV with spectral resolution of <1% at 662 KeV and 150 degrees field of view Coupled with a common personal computer or PDA, displays the field of view superimposed with pinpointed “hot” radiation regions and capable of displaying radionuclide gamma emission spectra.
